Overview
“24 drones” is a performance work for three dancers and twenty-four compact drones. It places body motion, motion capture, drone control, and moving light objects in the same stage space, treating the drones as physical bodies that compose the choreography with the dancers.
The project extends earlier dancer-and-drone research into a larger group-control system. Instead of designing each drone trajectory by hand, the work connects the flight group to body movement while maintaining safe distance, spatial composition, and stage timing.
Technical frame
The drones are not used as a background effect. They are handled as a stage material moving on the same timeline as the choreography. Machine-learning-informed control supports efficiency, safety, and visual composition, allowing twenty-four flying objects to respond to dancer posture and motion.
The making tests document two scales of control: six drones driven by arm position and angle, and twenty-four drones driven by pose analysis. Read together with the performance video, the page shows both the finished stage image and the control experiments behind it.
