New installations conceived by Daito Manabe (Studio Daito Manabe / sonicPlanet / Rhizomatiks) and Yusuke Kamiyama (Spline Design Hub), in collaboration with Claude, will be exhibited at KARIMOKU RESEARCH CENTER in Nishiazabu, Tokyo.
Woodworking Meets Emerging Intelligence
Daito Manabe’s Timber / Timbre explores the space between furniture and musical instruments, connecting wood, plants, electronic circuits, and AI to probe the boundary between the natural and the artificial.
Yusuke Kamiyama’s Dance as Waves is a kinetic installation in which three wooden structures trace large arcs with illuminated arms. Their overlapping trajectories move like a quiet dance, bringing the space to life.
The exhibition also presents the artists’ creative processes alongside an archive of Karimoku Furniture’s woodworking technologies and craftsmanship. Experience a space where accumulated material knowledge meets emerging forms of intelligence, allowing thought and material to intersect.
